Terrigal and the surrounding beaches of Wamberal, McMasters Beach, Avoca and Copacabana are one of New South Wales most sought-after holiday destinations. The quality of the beaches and the surf is second to none, and the surrounding scenery is breathtaking. Many families have been spending their annual holidays in the area for generations. Many Sydneysiders have now moved to the area to live permanently, and real estate prices have escalated sharply. Terrigal itself is a magnificent seaside village. Alfresco dining, cafés and boutiques abound in this delightful destination. The main shopping area is right on the beachfront, and just a short drive away is Terrigal Haven, a quiet bay sheltered behind the Skillion, which provides an ideal haven for launching boats or a family swim in sheltered water. The surf break of the point is an icon in the surfing world, and when the surf there is pumping, the surfers come from far and wide.

There are many great restaurants in the area, and top-class accommodation is available mostly in hotel and self-contained unit configurations. This is one area where you must book early to avoid disappointment. Avoca is another great drawcard in this region, again with a fantastic beach and great places to stay. A holiday at Avoca is one you will never forget. There are lots of things to do, including a local picture theatre to entertain the Kids. Copacabana and McMaster's Beach both offer alternatives if accommodation is hard to find, and both offer superb beaches that are safe and patrolled and have excellent surf. The whole area is a paradise and only a short drive from Gosford and larger shopping facilities. The area can be accessed from Sydney by Rail or coach and by car via the Sydney/Newcastle motorway. The train ride from Sydney passes through the Hawkesbury River system and the Brisbane Water and provides an ever-changing panorama of fantastic scenery.
