Where to stay in Gosford: the main settings
Gosford is a waterfront city and the main commercial hub and gateway of the Central Coast. The Gosford Waterfront is known for its boating and scenic views on the shores of Brisbane Water. The city itself sits in a valley, with President's Hill on the western border, Rumbalara Reserve to the east and Brisbane Water to the south.
The wider Gosford statistical area takes in Avoca Beach, Erina, Ettalong Beach, Kariong, Kincumber, Narara, Terrigal, Woy Woy and Wyoming. That gives you a spread of choices, from the town centre to beach suburbs, all within one region. For a wider look at the region, see our Central Coast destination guide.
Staying in the CBD
Mann Street is the main street and part of the Pacific Highway, running north to south through the commercial district. Around it you will find Kibble Park, William Street Mall, Gosford City Library, the Imperial Shopping Centre, and a full range of shops, cafes, banks and services.

Mann Street also holds the main public transport links, including Gosford railway station. Sydney Trains run twice an hour off-peak to Sydney Central and Newcastle Interchange, with more frequent services in the morning and evening peaks. Buses are run by Busways and Red Bus CDC NSW. If you are travelling without a car, staying near here makes the most sense. It is also a popular spot for pubs and clubs, so expect some evening activity.
For hotel and motel options, head to our Gosford motels and hotels page, or browse the wider Gosford accommodation listings.
Staying near the waterfront
If scenery matters more than shopping, the waterfront is the better bet. Gosford Leagues Club Park is a waterfront recreation area with a tidal water play area connected to Brisbane Water, which fills and drains with the tides. There are also playgrounds and picnic facilities, which makes the area handy for families. Our Gosford holiday with kids page has more ideas.
We reckon the waterfront is the nicer base for a short stay, though the CBD wins on convenience if you plan to use the train.
