Batemans Bay is the centre of the Eurobodalla district of the New South Wales South Coast. The area also includes the towns of Moruya, Broulee, Tuross, Bodalla and Narooma. The Eurobdalla region is famous as a tourist destination as it is one of the most beautiful regions in the state. The town is located on the banks of the Clyde River and this is popular for boating, water skiing, and fishing & sailing. At Tuross Heads the peninsular is dominated by a stand of Norfolk Island pines and this is another place that is great for lazing on the beach, golfing, fishing and boating. At Narooma you will be delighted with its offerings. Play golf along the cliff tops on its world famous course, visit Montague Island Nature Reserve or fish from the beaches, estuaries or charter boats. In this area you can also surf or dive on shipwrecks. The wildlife in the region is amazing with seabirds, penguins, Australian and New Zealand fur seals, dolphins and humpback whales passing during their annual migration. Moruya is another must see coastal village in the Eurobodalla, again located on an estuary it is also close to the Deua National Park and the Araluen Valley which both provide spectacular natural vistas and are well worth visiting. The granite for the pylons of the SydneyHarbour Bridge was mined in the area.
